have problems with agression with dogs
my patterdale terrier bouncer is just under a year old, although he's not a rescue dog- he will probably have the same sort of lack of trust etc as a rescue dog would as his previous owners didn't talk good care off him, poor soul
any way he's been with me for 3 mouths and so far mostly its going well but when out for walks bouncer gets very over excited when he sees other dogs, and this excitement quickly turns into aggression directed towards the other dog, and towards me which can be hard to control as hes on the leash.
recently i have resorted to muzzling him for my safety and the safety of other dogs.
i have been practicing walking around with other dogs, and also practicing walking past other dogs so he learns not all dogs are to be played with, hopefully lowering the excitement.
i just was wondering how do i tell when to take it too the next level without challenging him too much, as we still avoid a lot of dogs when were out, and hopefully the muzzle can be used very temporarily to build up bouncers self control
