For a long time, I felt that I had to train my Husky on all of the basics: sit, lay, stay, paw, here, etc... She was so quick to learn almost everything we worked on... except Fetch. I would throw a stick, a ball, or a frisbee and we always started out the same, excited and optimistic! I would throw the ball and say fetch and she would run like a deer in a meadow to go get it! She looks so happy when she's "fetching" and smiles from ear to ear with her tongue hanging out of the side of her mouth! She would get the ball and she would sometimes do a celebratory lap or two around the yard and then she would turn towards me and run as fast as she could... right past me! She would drop the ball somewhere in the yard and I would go fetch it! We would do it again and again. I couldn't tell you the countless hours we worked on "Fetch" and it would always end the same, her happy but tired and me frustrated. Until one day I realized, this game is better than fetch and it's her game that she trained me to play. So I'm the one that fetches and she loves it so much, I don't want her to fetch anymore.
